9 Signs That You Are Eating Too Much Sugar

Eating Too Much Sugar

I think we all know that eating too much sugar is harmful to our health and to our waist lines, but do you ever wonder how to tell whether or not you’re eating too much sugar?

If you look online to figure out exactly how much sugar you should be eating, you’ll find so many different answers that it quickly becomes confusing. So here’s the truth…only you can figure out what the right amount of sugar is for your body. Because while added sugars really aren’t healthy for anyone, some people can tolerate them better than others.

So, are you ready to find out if sugar is wreaking havoc on your body??

9 Signs You’re Eating Too Much Sugar

To help you figure out whether or not you’re eating too much sugar for your body, I’ve put together a simple quiz for you to take that will give you an idea of whether or not sugar might be causing problems in your body.

To figure this out, rate yourself on a scale from 1-5 for each of the symptoms listed below. A “1” would indicate that you never experience that symptom. A “3” would indicate that you experience that symptom occasionally, perhaps a couple of times a week, and a “5” indicates that you experience that symptom on a daily basis.

  1. Digestive issues, such as bloating and gas
  2. Strong cravings for foods high in sugar or carbs
  3. An increased appetite
  4. A poor mood, including feelings of irritability, depression, and/or anxiousness
  5. Unclear thinking, difficulty focusing, or a “foggy” brain
  6. Energy levels that fluctuate throughout the day and feelings of sluggishness
  7. Stubborn belly fat
  8. Difficulty losing weight, even if you feel like you’re eating healthy
  9. Dull, dry, or acne-prone skin

These 9 symptoms can all be brought on by a diet high in sugar. While these symptoms can indicate other health conditions as well, if you rated yourself a “3” or higher on several of these warning signs, then it’s likely that you’re eating too much sugar.

Sugar has been shown to cause inflammation in the body and triggers fat storage. Not only that, but fluctuating blood sugar levels can lead to energy crashes, irritability, and a foggy brain.

The good news is, though, that by reducing the amount of sugar you eat, you can start to feel better pretty quickly. In addition, by cutting back on sugar, you can be confident that you are taking steps to improve your overall health and to reduce your risk for some preventable diseases.
